National Farmers Day: A Thank You to Our Farmers

Harvest moves fast. Today, on National Farmers Day, we want to slow down long enough to say something simple: thank you.

Thank you for the early mornings, long days, unpredictable weather, changing markets, and all the work that happens long before the food reaches our tables.

Farmers Keep More Than Farms Running

Nearly everything we eat, and much of what we wear, starts with agriculture. In 2022, 3.4 million producers operated 1.9 million farms across the United States, producing food, fuel, and fiber for people here and around the world.

The impact reaches far beyond the farm gate:

  • 22.1 million jobs: Agriculture, food, and related industries supported 22.1 million full- and part-time jobs in 2022, or 10.4% of U.S. employment.
  • $1.537 trillion: In 2023, those industries contributed roughly $1.537 trillion to the U.S. economy, or 5.5% of U.S. GDP.

Farmers aren’t only producing what we need today. They are also making decisions about land, soil, water, and their farms’ futures.

Thank You for Trusting Us with The Work That Happens After the Field Work

Farming comes with plenty of work that doesn’t happen outside. There are receipts to organize, records to keep, taxes to prepare, funding opportunities to find, customers to reach, and decisions to make about where the business is headed. We know the paperwork often waits until the field work is done.

We’re especially grateful to the farmers who trust us with a piece of their operation.

Thank you to the farmers who let us handle their bookkeeping and monthly reports. Thank you to those who trust us to help tell their stories through marketing. And thank you to the farmers who come to us looking for grants, loans, and other funding opportunities.

The best feedback we can receive comes from the farmers we work alongside.

Trusting someone with your numbers, your story, or your next opportunity means a lot, and we don’t take it lightly.

Keep Learning With Us

As we head toward the end of the year, we’re putting together a free farm bookkeeping webinar series to help you enter tax season knowing where your farm stands.

We’ll kick things off on November 12 with Farm Bookkeeping Basics, covering practical ways to get organized and better understand your farm’s books before tax season arrives.

We’ll be sharing more sessions throughout the series, covering topics designed to help farmers feel more confident managing the bookkeeping for their operations. These webinars are free, practical, and built with farmers in mind.

And as always, if you need additional support with your farm’s bookkeeping or financial management, Good Agriculture is here to help.
